Description

1 and 3 Hauxton Road are cottages dating primarily from the late 17th century, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are timber-framed with exposed framing, rendered infill panels, and steeply pitched tiled roofs. A ridge stack, partially rebuilt, is present. The original plan likely comprised three bays, incorporating a lobby entry and a gable end facing the road, resembling White's Farmhouse on High Street and numbers 11 and 69 High Street. One bay to the road is single-storey with an attic containing one dormer window. A 20th-century lean-to addition is situated on one side. The central bay has a higher roof apex and eavesline. Two storeys high, timber framing is exposed on one side wall but obscured by the lean-to on the other. The end bay was remodelled in the 19th century.
