Description

Church Farmhouse is a house, formerly a farmhouse, likely built in the early to mid-19th century. It is possibly associated with Jonas Webb (1796-1862), who was known for breeding Babraham Southdown sheep, a breed that gained international recognition. The house is constructed of gault brick with a shallow-pitched hipped slated roof and three chimney stacks. It has two storeys and a cellar, and its form is an L-shape with a later 19th-century extension. The symmetrical front facade has three bays. The main entrance features a plain pilastered doorcase leading to a six-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight incorporating patterned glazing bars, approached by two steps. There are two recessed twelve-paned hung sash windows within gauged brick arches on the ground floor, and three similar first-floor windows. The building has boarded eaves and a brick plinth. Interior details date from the 19th century.
