Description
No. 8 Horn Lane is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th century. The building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring some original pargetting on the south gable. It has a plastered plinth and a thatched half-hipped roof, with a rectangular red brick ridge stack. The rear and extension have a pantiled roof. The house is two storeys high with an attic and follows a lobby entry plan, although the original entrance has been blocked. To the north, there is an 18th-century extension that is one storey and has an attic.
On the street side, there are three wide flush-framed eight-paned hung sash windows on the ground floor, along with an 18th-century six-panelled door that has a panelled canopy supported by two carved bed posts. Inside, the ceiling beams have deep chamfers and stops, and there is a staircase located to the west of the stack, along with two sealed fireplaces.
