Description
Hinxton Grange is a farmhouse built around 1835, following the enclosure movement, designed by Wedd William Nash. It is constructed from gault brick with moulded stone dressings and features slate roofs and octagonal stacks. The building stands two storeys high with a symmetrical facade, where the outer bays are slightly advanced and topped with a pediment. It has deep eaves and moulded stone architraves with projecting cornices supported on console brackets, along with an applied pattern on the wooden pelmets. There are garden windows on the ground floor to the left and right, a casement window on the left side of the first floor, and a twelve-paned hung sash window on the right side. A fluted Greek Doric portico with stone steps leads to a flat roof and a glazed panelled door. The south elevation features a verandah with a tented canopy. Inside, the contemporary details include a staircase and chimney pieces.
