Description
Nos. 82 and 84 on High Street is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring some weatherboarding and a tarred brick plinth. It has a red plain tiled roof that is half hipped to the left, along with a pantiled outhouse. A red brick, rectangular ridge stack is located to the right of the center.
The structure has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a single-storey outhouse to the north. Originally designed as a three-unit plan, it was extended by one bay to the south in the 18th century and was altered into two dwellings in the 19th century, which included the insertion of a staircase and internal partitions, as well as the addition of the outhouse.
The street elevation features a coved plastered eaves cornice and steps leading to two entrances: one on the left with a four-flush-panelled door and another on the right with a boarded door. There are three nine-paned hung sash windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor, along with one horizontal sliding sash window. Inside, there is a baking oven in the original kitchen hearth, evidence of original windows, and stop-chamfered ceiling beams. A fire insurance plaque is visible on the front elevation.
