Description
South Lodge to Hildersham Hall is an early 19th-century lodge constructed from painted gault brick. It features a slated pyramidal roof that extends beyond the building, creating an open verandah. The lodge has a central chimney stack with four linked shafts and is designed in a symmetrical square plan, standing at one storey high. The main entrance is located in a canted projection, featuring a door with six deeply-moulded panels and pointed arches on the upper panels. The windows are Gothic casements with two lights and glazing bars, adorned with drip moulds. The verandah is supported by timber posts and arches, with the posts clustered in threes and shaped into elliptical arches. This lodge is contemporary with Hildersham Hall and is likely designed by E. Lapidge.
