Description
Low Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1595, as indicated by the porch lintel inscribed 'IHA 1595 EGD'. It is timber framed and plastered, with thatched roofs that are half hipped to the west and south. The building has two storeys, featuring a main range with a crosswing to the east, and a two-storey porch positioned at the lobby entry with a stair turret on the rear elevation. There is a ridge stack and a gable end stack on the crosswing. The gabled porch includes one small light above a casement window, a carved lintel with a depressed four-centred arch at the entrance, and a boarded door. The farmhouse has three casement windows and two horizontal sliding sash windows on the ground floor, along with additional windows on the first floor. Inside, the farmhouse showcases an exposed timber frame and chamfered ceiling beams. There are three original hearths with chamfered jambs and four-centred arches.
