Description
Dears Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1601, as indicated by a carving on a beam. It includes one bay of an earlier building and an extension that may date from the 18th century to the west. The structure features an exposed timber frame with plastered panels and a plastered timber frame. There is a red brick ridge stack that is partly plastered and has been rebuilt with grouped shafts. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, with a main range that has a continuous jetty and an original entrance to the north. The main entrance is on the left side, featuring a six-panelled door in a reeded doorcase. Below the jetty, there are two small horizontal sliding sash windows and two canted bay hung sash windows with a carved fascia. On the first floor, there are four horizontal sliding sash windows and one restored three-light mullioned window. The interior includes inglenook hearths and ovolo moulded and chamfered axial beams.
