Description
The stables located to the south-west of Hinxton Hall are early 19th century structures that have been converted into workshops, with some 20th century alterations. They are built from red brick and feature hipped roofs covered with slate. Originally, there were two separate blocks connected by an arched entry, which has since been obscured by a 20th century addition. Each roof is topped with two wooden cupolas that exhibit an Islamic design, likely from the mid-19th century, consisting of four stages. The second and third stages have fret panels and paired glazed panels, while the fourth stage is open, showcasing horseshoe arches supported by triple columns, with crescent moons in the spandrels. The roofs are finished with a tented leaded design, featuring a trout finial that has replaced a crescent moon. The stables were restored around 1980 and are included for their group value.
