Description
The kitchen and covered passage located to the north of Odsey House were built around 1723 and have undergone alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Constructed from red brick with gauged brick dressings, the building features a plain tiled roof. The single-storey kitchen has parapet gables and a large side stack on the northeast that has been reduced in size. Brick eaves cornices extend across the gables, creating pediments. The passageway originally had five segmental arches, which have been filled in with later windows, and features sunk brick panels above along with a plain cornice. Inside, the kitchen has been converted into a library, with modern windows added to the northwest. The cooking hearth, which may have been tiled with Delft or similar tiles, has been sealed. A painting of a hound with 'Devonshire' on its collar is displayed on the wall of the passageway.
