Description

No. 91 High Street is an early 18th-century L-plan farmhouse, which has been cased in gault brick during the 19th century. The building features a tumbled parapet gable on the rear wing and a plain tile roof that is hipped to the right, with a modillioned eaves cornice and rear stacks. It stands two storeys tall with attics.

The centrally positioned gable dormer window has a horizontal sliding sash with glazing bars. On the first floor, there are two large hung sash windows with side lights and glazing bars, which flank a central semi-circular headed arched window that also has hung sashes and glazing bars. The ground floor mirrors this arrangement, with two similar windows flanking a central doorway.

The doorcase is notable for its deeply moulded pilasters, plain entablature, projecting cornice, and panelled reveals. The entrance features a four-panelled door and a plain rectangular fanlight. Inside, the property boasts bolection moulded chimney pieces in two main ground floor rooms, and the right-hand room retains complete panelling with an original bolection panelled double door entry. A good 19th-century open-string staircase leads up to the attic floor in the rear wing.
