Description

Ivy Cottage is a mid-17th century two-bay lobby entry house situated on the west side of the High Street in Offord Cluny. It was extended later in the 17th century with the addition of one bay to the south and west, and with an east-facing stair turret. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with a plain tiled roof which originally would have been thatched. The ridge stack has an original base of soft red brick, with a rubbed brick string. The cottage has two gables, each containing horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars. To the gable end of the stair and entry bay are a blocked casement window with transom and mullion, and three sash windows with glazing bars. The interior includes an original closed string staircase with flat section balusters, square newel posts surmounted by faceted terminals, as well as two inglenook hearths.
