Description

The Axe and Compass Public House is a 17th-century inn located on Church Lane in Hemingford Abbots. It is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed with a timber frame and rendered exterior. The first floor features Gault brick, and the roof is thatched. There is an external brick chimney stack on the south gable. The building has two horizontal sliding sash windows on the first floor and one modern casement window on the ground floor. In the north gable, there is a two-light attic casement window with leaded lights. Additionally, there are single-storey thatched wings extending to the north and west.
