Description

This is a row of four houses on Elton Road, built in the early 19th century and altered in the early 20th century. The houses are constructed of coursed dressed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and have Collyweston stone slated roofs. They are double pile, meaning they have rooms at the front and back. The front of the houses has ashlar quoins and surrounds for the window and door openings, with flat stone arches and flush keystones. The original shallow segmental bay windows have been replaced with four new doors and four ground floor windows. The first floor has four sixteen-paned recessed sash windows. Inside, the houses have similar plans with a rear kitchen and a boxed staircase. Round arched recesses, some with cupboards, are found along the main rooms, flanking the chimney. The interior also features plain panelled doors.
