Description

The Village Hall and Garnett Cottage were built in 1871, as indicated by plaques bearing TVW. The Village Hall occupies the central range and is timber-framed with plaster rendering and a thatched roof. It has two brick side stacks on the north-east elevation and a verandah with cast-iron piers on the south-west side. Garnett Cottage is to the south-east, with a red brick extension to the north-west. The cottage features yellow brick quoins, brick bands, and dressings around the openings. It has slate roofs, along with a large square ridge stack. The cottage has three original sash windows, one replacement window, and a modern entrance door. The Village Hall has two large panelled doors and a north-west entrance featuring wooden architraves resembling rusticated stone, complete with fanned key blocks, similar to those at Audley House, the former home of Dr. Webb. The windows of the hall and the north-west extension feature cross-framed painted brick arches. The property is documented in Kelly’s Directory for Huntingdonshire from 1898.
