Description
Audley House is an early to mid 18th century farmhouse featuring a double pile, symmetrical plan, and two storeys with attics. The building is constructed of red brick and has a hipped plain tile roof, which is topped with a tall square symmetrical stack and a dentil brick eaves cornice. The windows and door were altered in the mid 19th century by Dr. Webb. The house has three gabled dormer windows equipped with horizontal sliding sashes that include glazing bars. On the first floor, there are five hung sash windows set in gauged brick arches, and a gauged brick band runs between the floors. The ground floor features four hung sash windows alongside a central six-panelled door, which is framed by an architraved doorcase topped with an open pediment supported by console brackets and a fanned key block. Inside, there is an 18th century staircase that may have been altered in the 19th century, as well as a large cooking hearth in the kitchen. A fire insurance plaque is located above the front entrance.
