Description
The Former Lion Hotel, dated 1731, is located on the south side of High Street in Ramsey. This building originally has an L-shaped plan and stands three storeys tall, featuring bands between the floors. A three-storey addition from the 19th century is attached to the west of the main range, sharing a common facade. The roof is a low-pitched hipped slate design with deep eaves and there are three chimneys. The main range, which dates back to the 18th century, has three bays with hung sash windows that include glazing bars in original flush wooden frames, topped with segmental arches made of gauged brick. The later addition has two windows on the first and second floors that are recessed and feature key blocks in cambered arches. On the ground floor, there are two large windows, one of which has rusticated brick jambs and a cornice, along with side entrances.
