Description

Brook Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located on Station Road in Tilbrook. It features a kitchen wing to the north and 19th-century additions to the west. The building is timber-framed and sits on a plinth, with rough-cast rendering. It has a modern tile roof, which includes a repaired 17th-century brick ridge stack at the north gable end of the main range and an 18th-century stack at the south gable end. The main range is two storeys tall with attics, featuring two horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars and two casement windows at the ground floor. The entrance is located opposite the stack. The kitchen wing is also two storeys with attics, containing one dormer and one casement window on each floor. There is a 19th-century brick extension to the west with a lean-to slate roof, as well as a single-storey brick brewhouse to the west of the kitchen range.

Inside, the main range consists of two bays with a lobby entry, where the posts, main beams, and middle rails are visible. The hall has a large inglenook fireplace, which is now blocked, while the parlour originally featured 17th-century wall paintings and has a fireplace flanked by 18th-century panelled cupboards. The kitchen wing also consists of two bays and has chamfered and stopped main beams.
