Description

Commemoration Hall, formerly known as the Literary and Scientific Institution, is a building located on High Street in Huntingdon. It was founded in 1840 and opened in 1843, designed by architects Pocock and Glover. The structure is built of gault brick with stucco dressings and features a plinth. It is two storeys high and has a front that is divided into three bays, adorned with Corinthian pilasters and an entablature that once had a figure of Minerva, which is now missing. The building includes sash windows with glazing bars set in architrave surrounds. The entrance features a pedimented doorway with an acroterion above it. A bracketed cornice and parapet are present, while the roof is not visible.
