Description
Nos 31 and 32 on High Street are early 18th century buildings made of red brick, constructed as a single unit. They stand two storeys high with attics and feature seven windows, topped by a modillioned eaves cornice. Although they were not built at the same time, they share a similar character and length with Cowper House, which is nearby. The buildings have been altered by modern shop fronts. Together with No 28, Cowper House and Nos 31 and 32 represent an excellent example of the street architecture from that period, showcasing a cohesive design with eaves cornices and roofs aligned at the same level. The windows are arranged in a 4:3 pattern, with flush framed sashes that have later glazing bars. Only No 31 has two dormers, and there is a brick stack present.
