Description
Top Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1700, with additions and alterations made around 1850. It features painted brick and render, topped with a slate roof and three brick gable stacks. The gables are raised and coped, with kneelers, and there is a brick plinth. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys plus attics. The main front has three bays, with a central half-glazed door and a gabled wooden porch. On either side, there are single square projecting bay windows with margin lights. Above these, there are three cross-casements, and above again, three raking dormers with two-light glazing bar casements. The interior retains good 18th-century panelled doors with L-hinges, a mid-19th-century stick baluster front staircase, a smaller rear staircase, and 19th-century fireplaces throughout. The ground and first floors feature 18th-century spine beams.
