Description

Holmewood Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with early 19th-century alterations and rebuilding. It is constructed of gault brick and features a late 17th-century tumble brick parapet gable on the right side. The cottage has a thatched roof, an end stack on the right side, and a ridge stack to the left of center that has been rebuilt with three diagonal shafts. The building is one storey with an attic and has a rear outshut. It follows a three-unit lobby entry plan and includes three casement windows with segmental brick arches, along with one five-light replacement window to the right of a 19th-century boarded door. Additionally, there are three eyebrow casement dormer windows. Inside, the cottage features boxed ceiling beams. It is located on the edge of the former village green, as shown on the estate map for William Wells from 1770.
