Description
The Church of St Mark is a parish church built in 1864, designed by J.B. Owen in the Decorated style. It is constructed of gault brick with stone dressings and features a steeply pitched wooden shingle roof. The northwest tower has two stages, with a gabled doorway and blind openings on the first stage. The broach spire includes a gabled spire light on each side. The west window consists of four cusped lights with a foiled head set in a two-centred arch. Both the north and south walls are divided into five bays by buttresses, with each wall featuring a window of two trefoil lights with a quatrefoil in a two-centred arch. The gabled south porch is made of brick and stone, with an outer arch that has two chamfered orders. The east window of the chancel is similar to the west window of the nave.
