Description
Cherrytree House is a house dating from 1758, featuring initials "R.H." on the tympanum of the pediment above the doorway. It has a rear outshut and a 19th-century service wing to the west. The house is constructed of brown brick and has a steeply pitched roof now covered with slates. The gable end parapets are tumbled, resting on rebuilt kneelers, and there are end stacks. The roof of the outshut at the rear has been raised. The building is two storeys high with attics, and it has stone sills and cambered arches over a range of five recessed hung sashes with glazing bars. The central doorway features a triangular pediment with a doorcase that includes pilasters and an entablature with a pulvinated frieze. The early 19th-century service wing is also made of brown brick and has a slate roof. Inside, there is an original open-string staircase with two flights, each featuring two turned balusters per tread and square newel posts.
