Description

These are two gate piers with vases and a wall, dating from the late 17th century. They are made of dressed limestone. The gate piers are square and feature a rebate for gates, topped with a moulded cornice. Each pier has a large vase on top, which has a carved rim and bowl. The left pier has a short section of wall attached, also made of dressed limestone, with its original gabled coping. These piers and wall are linked to Portland House in Whittlesey, which was demolished after a fire around 1950.
