Description
This is a house built in 1861, designed by Algenon Peckover, and constructed in a style similar to the neighbouring numbers 23 and 24. The house is built of yellow gault brick with limestone dressings and has slated roofs with shaped ridge tiles. Notable features include a rear stack with eight tall decorated chimney pots, a three-light attic window within a cross-stepped gable topped with a tall shaped stone finial, two first-floor transomed casement windows with leaded lights, and a five-light transomed casement bay window on the ground floor. A Gothic-style door is set to the right, approached by stone steps and a passage door. The rear gabled wall has a stone plaque indicating the year of construction. The house has attics and basements. Photographs and prints spanning the 18th and 19th centuries are held at the Wisbech and Fakenham Museum.
