Description

Kirkgate House is a house dated 1587, featuring a main range with a lobby entry plan and a crosswing of the same date to the south. It is constructed of red brick in English bond, topped with a cement tile roof. The main range has an original red brick ridge stack, while the crosswing has a 20th-century end stack. The building stands two storeys high on a plinth and has a rubbed brick band at the eaves height of the gable ends. The main range includes three later windows at the first floor, two at the ground floor, and a doorway opposite the stack. The north gable end contains one original window opening, which is now blocked, featuring splayed reveals and a diamond mullion made of brick. The crosswing has three windows.
