Description
Paget Hall is a house that was formerly the rectory, built in 1868 and designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott for his brother, Canon John Scott, who was the Rector of Tydd St Giles. The building is constructed of red brick featuring a diaper pattern made of burnt brick. It has steeply pitched roofs covered with slate, adorned with crested ridge tiles, and includes side and ridge stacks with grouped shafts. The house is two storeys high, with the principal elevation originally facing west.
The design includes three gabled eaves dormers with shaped bargeboarding and casement windows. On the ground floor, there are two bay windows, and a crosswing to the north features pointed arches above two casements. The south front mirrors this design, with three similar eaves dormers, a bay window, and an entryway in a pointed arch.
Inside, the hall features a brick screen with two bays and two-centred arches that are chamfered on columns with capitals carved in a 'stiff-leaf' foliage pattern. The original staircase consists of two flights and a landing.
