Description
The Grange is a house, formerly a vicarage, built in 1838 by architect J. Walter from Cambridge for Reverend J. Hailstone. It is constructed of grey brick with stone dressings and features steeply pitched gable roofs that are slated. The gable ends are adorned with pierced bargeboarding. The building has three brick stacks, each topped with linked octagonal shafts, and is designed in the Tudor Gothic style with an asymmetrical plan.
The house has two storeys and attics, with a two-storey parapetted bay on the left side that includes a four-light casement window on the first floor. There are three additional windows, comprising two and a single light, all featuring chamfered mullions and jambs. On the ground floor, the bay window has full-height casements with a transom. The brick porch is gabled and features a four-centred outer arch with wave moulding, as well as an inner arch that is also four-centred and similarly moulded but set on a higher base.
