Description

Lady Peyton's Almshouses are a row of almshouses built in 1842, which were restored and modernised in 1982. They are constructed from clunch with a red brick casing and yellow brick quoins, along with dressings around the door and window openings. The building has a low pitch, hipped slate roof with ridge stacks and is a single storey. Originally, the front elevation featured five Y-casement windows and five doorways, all in pointed arches with moulded stone labels; however, three of the doorways have been converted into windows. The almshouses were originally established by Lady Frances Peyton in 1582.
