Description

This is an early 18th-century house, extended in the 19th century with the addition of a rear wing. The front wall is red brick, with original clunch facing. The roof is tiled, steeply pitched, with end stacks and parapets. A wooden eaves cornice and 19th-century guttering featuring lion's head masks are also present. The house is two storeys and has attics, with two dormers featuring segmental heads. The main elevation originally had five window bays, now containing three flush frame sash windows with twelve panes each in open boxing, and two blind openings. The ground floor has three similar windows; two on the right have been blocked and a new window inserted. The central doorway has a doorcase with plain pilasters and entablature, topped with a flat hood. The door itself is of six raised and fielded panels, with a rectangular fanlight above. Inside, the original house retains a fine early 18th-century closed string staircase with two flights leading to a landing, featuring turned balusters and a moulded rail. A service basement, accessed from the rear, is also part of the original house.
