Description

No. 66 on Main Street is a house that dates from the late 18th century, with an early 19th-century extension at the east end. It is constructed of gault brick in English bond and features a mansard roof with plain tiles and a sawtooth eaves cornice. The end stacks of the original late 18th-century cottage have been moved inside due to the early 19th-century addition. The building has a T-plan layout, consisting of one storey and an attic.

There are three 19th-century gable dormers with shaped bargeboarding and horizontal sliding sashes. The early 19th-century doorway is set in a reeded doorcase and has a narrow hood, with panelled reveals. The front also includes a later canted bay window and an original twelve-pane hung sash window in a segmental arch. At the east end, there is a single-bay early 19th-century service addition, which is similar in brick and bond, also featuring a mansard roof and tumbled gable end. This addition has two storeys, with a three-light casement window on the first floor and a ground floor window in a segmental header arch.

At the rear, there is a late 18th-century wing made of gault brick with a tumbled gable end. Inside, the layout consists of two rooms flanking a hall. The room to the west has an inglenook and may have originally served as the kitchen. The rear wing includes a cellar and a pantry, which has corner cupboards and a 19th-century fixed hand basin beside the door. There is another inglenook in the early 19th-century addition.
