Description

The Round House, dating to around 1830, was originally a toll house on the Newmarket Turnpike. The building is constructed of grey gault brick and comprises a single-story rectangular block with a semi-octagonal bay projecting towards the road. A modern two-story addition is situated on the north-east side. Sash windows, some with glazing bars, are present throughout. The roof is low-pitched and slate-covered, featuring bracketed eaves supported by slender, free-standing cast-iron columns. A central brick chimney rises from the roof.
