Description
The chapel at Churchill College is a college chapel built between 1961 and 1968 by Sheppard Robson and Partners. It features a square plan with an inscribed cross design, constructed from brown brick and concrete, topped with a copper roof. The walls are simple brick slabs, separated by narrow slit windows. Each elevation has two projecting beams that support the flat copper roof. The chapel includes four central projecting roof-lights, which are diagonally chamfered at the top. Inside, there are stained glass windows. The design is noted for its modern architectural style, reflecting the principles of Cambridge New Architecture as articulated by N. Taylor.
