Description

This is an unusual barrel tomb dedicated to James Adams, dating from 1765. It is heavily carved with angels, foliage, and the phrase "Memento mori," and is signed "Winchester Recit." The tomb is built against the churchyard wall and features an inscribed stone, a canopy, and hanging drapes. It is located 20 feet south-west of the west door of the Church of St Margaret of Antioch in Stanford-le-Hope.
