Description

Werrington Hall is a large house, with its main section dating from circa 1779 and a southward extension added in 1951. A north wing, now a separate property, likely originates from the early 18th century.

The 1951 addition is rendered with a stone slate roof and has two storeys, featuring two windows with rusticated stone architraves and modern casement windows. A single three-light window on the ground floor has modern glazing bars, set within a modern architrave. A rendered chimney stack is also present.

The main central section of the house is two storeys high, with attics. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar quoins and window and door dressings. The roof is a stone slate mansard style, with a single flat-topped dormer featuring Gothic lancet-headed glazing, similar to that found at Nos. 32 and 34 nearby. Stone gable ends and a modillion eaves cornice are notable features. The front elevation has three windows of 3, 2, and 3 lights each, featuring Gothic heads within rusticated ashlar architraves and keystones. A further two windows, also of 3 lights, are positioned on the ground floor. The main entrance is a six-panelled door with a rectangular glazed fanlight, set within a rusticated architrave with a keystone.

Werrington Hall, Dovecote, and the North Wing of Werrington Hall are designated as a group.
