Description
The Parish Church of St Botolph is a Grade I listed building located in Longthorpe. This church was re-erected on its current site between 1262 and 1274 and is designed in the Early English style. The structure is built from rubble and features a wide nave with three bays and triple arcaded aisles. The windows are adorned with trefoil headed lights, and the west window includes a quatrefoil circle above its two lights. The pitch pine roof, installed in 1892, rests on elaborately carved stone corbels. A bell cote was added during the restoration in 1869. To the left of the north doorway, there are remains of an old alabaster font, and a piscina is located in the south wall. The west exterior wall displays two consecration crosses, one of which may refer to an earlier 11th-century building.
