Description

Avebury Cottage is a 17th and 18th century row of cottages, now combined into a single dwelling. It was altered in the 19th century. The cottage is constructed of coursed stone, with a steeply pitched roof of Collyweston stone and gabled ends. It is one storey and has an attic. The front has four window bays. There are two 19th-century stone bay windows and a 4-centred arch doorway with a modern porch. A wide garage doorway has been recently inserted into the left-hand side of the front elevation. Three dormers are present on the roof - two are hipped and one is gabled. Ashlar ridge and end stacks are topped with cornices. A rear wing incorporates two hipped dormers, stone mullion windows and diagonally placed stacks.
