Description

This is an 18th-century barn with an adjoining stable range, located north-north-east of Compass Cottage in Ufford.

The barn is constructed of coursed stone with a steeply pitched roof of Collyweston stone, featuring coped gable ends. A central cart entrance is marked by double doors. There are ventilation slits in the walls, and a covered way with a Collyweston stone roof extends along the south side, overlooking the yard behind.

Attached at a right angle to the north-west is a further 18th-century range of stables, also built of coursed stone with a Collyweston stone roof and gabled ends. It is a single-storey building with an attic, and features two small ground-floor windows with flat stone arches. A segmental arched doorway, with a keystone and impost, sits between the windows. Two hipped dormers light the loft space.
