Description
The Royal Oak Public House is a 17th century building located on the north side of Peterborough Road in Castor. It features a tablet with "LB" over "1727" in the gable. The structure is constructed from coursed stone with a plastered front on the western part and has thatched roofs with coped gable ends. The building is Z-shaped in plan, consisting of one storey and an attic. The west range is prominent with a gabled cross wing, while the east range is set back from the road. It has four gabled dormers and the ground floor includes four casements with two and three lights, as well as an 18th century canted bay window. There are two plain doorways, one of which has a simple wooden porch. The building is topped with three brick end stacks.
