Description

The Parish Church of St John the Baptist is a Grade I listed building located on Church Street in Werrington. The east wall of the nave and chancel, along with the south doorway, date back to the early 12th century. The south arcade and aisle were constructed in the early 13th century. In the first half of the 14th century, the chancel was rebuilt and a south porch was added. A modern vestry is also present. The east window was created around 1330, and there is a 13th-century font. The church underwent restorations in 1680, 1884, and from 1901 to 1902, during which the chancel was rebuilt using old materials. The Church of St John the Baptist and the adjacent No 75 form a group.
