Description
Westwood House is a house built around 1860, located on the north side of Thorpe Road in Peterborough. The building is constructed from ashlar stone and features rusticated quoins and a string course. It has a parapet with balustrade details that conceals a low pitched slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has bays on the south elevation, with label moulds below the ground floor windows. The windows are sashes with glazing bars and have plain ashlar surrounds. The entrance lobby is a single storey with a flat roof, and the door is set in a round-headed opening with a rusticated surround and keyblock. The ashlar stacks have cornices. Inside, the house features a timber staircase, marble columns, a tiled floor, and a stone fireplace that displays the coat of arms of the first owner. The property appears to be substantially unaltered.
