Description
1-5 Market Square is an 18th-century row of houses constructed in local bond using vitrified headers and dressed with red brick. The building features an old tiled roof with stone-coped Dutch gables on the side elevations. It stands three storeys high with a roof parapet that has moulded stone coping. There are nine sash windows with glazing bars set in flush frames, each surrounded by rusticated architrave and topped with triple keystones. Four of the windows on the left have been altered, and there is a central oriel bay window on the first floor that dates from the 19th century. The ground floor has modern shop fronts. Nos 1 to 11 (odd) and 11A form a group with Nos 57 and 59 High Street.
