Description

The gazebo known as Queen Katherine's Summer House is a red brick structure from the George II period. It is located in a corner of what was once a garden, which has since been developed. This site is traditionally associated with Queen Katherine of Aragon, who is said to have taught the local people how to make lace, an old craft from Bedfordshire. The gazebo features a simple brick facade and a hipped tile roof that rises to a plain painted ball finial. A single glazed door provides access to steps leading down from the structure.
