Description
These are former lodges, gates, and gatepiers, dating from around 1930 and designed by W Curtis Green. They are situated at Stockgrove Park. The lodges are constructed of red brick with limestone dressings, featuring a half-hipped plain-tile roof topped by a tall brick ridge stack with stone caps. The lodges are one storey tall with an attic, and have a double-depth plan. They are symmetrical, flanking the main gates. The road-facing sides of the lodges contain 20-pane sash windows on either side of a central 16-pane sash window within a recessed central bay. A stone plinth and pilaster strips define the angles and the sides of the central bay. A moulded stone cornice sits above and a central recessed dormer is present. The gatescreen features central double-leaf wrought-iron gates, flanked by tall ashlar stone gatepiers. These piers have moulded stone caps and attached pilasters with capitals supporting console brackets. Wrought-iron pedestrian gates are located on either side of the main gates and at either end of the gatescreen beside the lodges, flanked by plain stone piers with moulded stone lintels. Further wrought-iron gatescreens are present on the lower stone walls.
