Description
Brandreth House, located at 36 Church Street, is a mid-18th century brick building that stands two storeys tall. It features a parapet and a slate mansard roof with dormers. The west side has three windows, while the south side has two. There are string courses above each storey. A fanlight is positioned above a panelled door, which is set in panelled reveals. The door is topped with a shaped hood that is supported by unusual brackets. These brackets are a continuation of the pilasters, which have a flattened oval section that curves upwards away from the wall and then turns downwards. This distinctive form of pilaster-bracket is also found at No 3 Church Street. Brandreth House is part of a group that includes Nos 34 to 36, Little Dynevor, and Nos 1 to 7 (consecutive) known as the Feoffee Almshouses, alongside the Parish Church of St Andrews.
