Description
Bell Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with probable extensions from the 18th century. It features a colour washed rough cast exterior over a timber frame and has an old clay tile roof. The building is L-shaped, with the eastern wing having two storeys and attics, while the western wing is one storey with attics.
On the northern elevation, the projecting gable includes two 2-light casements on the ground floor, a single-light casement and a 2-light horizontal sash on the first floor, and a 2-light casement in the attic. The western wing has three 3-light casements on the ground floor. There are four hipped dormers with 2-light casements in the attic, and a part-glazed panelled door is located under a flat-hooded open porch.
The western wing has a red brick ridge stack that shows alterations, indicating that the house was extended westwards during the 18th century. There is also a red brick stack at the western gable end. Additionally, there are single-storey tiled additions to both the western and eastern sides of the building.
