Description
House. Built in the early 19th century. The house is constructed of yellow brick with a hipped slate roof. It follows a symmetrical double-pile plan over two storeys, with a single-storey service wing projecting from the rear and a flat-roofed 20th-century single-storey addition also to the rear. The front elevation features brick pilasters at the corners and a projecting central bay, with deep, bracketed eaves. A projecting rectangular bay window is centrally located on the ground floor; it has a three-light sash window with half-columns at the corners. The two flanking ground floor windows, and the three first-floor windows, are all sash windows set beneath flat arches. All sash windows contain glazing bars. A central quadruple ridge stack is present. The side elevations mirror the front, with a projecting bay near the front elevation and, closest to the rear, a six-panel door topped by a rectangular fanlight. This door is flanked by half-columns that curve forward without capitals to form brackets supporting a flat hood, a distinctive regional architectural feature noted by Pevsner. The first floor features sash windows similar to those on the front elevation.
