Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church dating from the 15th century, with some 14th century details still visible. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and brown cobbles, featuring ashlar dressings. The church includes a chancel, nave, south aisle, south porch, and a west tower. The chancel was rebuilt in the 15th century but retains a south door from the 14th century and a 15th century chancel arch. The nave has three bays and is supported by buttresses that reach up to the parapet of the north wall. There are three windows on each side of the 15th century clerestory, and a 13th century north doorway. The south arcade is from the 14th century, with the eastern bay narrower than the other two. The south aisle features a southeast window from the 15th century that reuses a 14th century head. The south porch has a pointed outer arch beneath a square head, and the inner doorway retains a 15th century door with traceried panels at the top. The nave, aisle, and porch all have embattled parapets. The 15th century west tower is four stages high, with an embattled parapet, a 19th century octagonal spire, and a two-centred arched west doorway. On the north wall of the chancel, there is a 14th century tomb recess with a crocketed gabled canopy flanked by pinnacles, a quatrefoiled panel on the tomb front, and a 17th century brass inscription set into the tomb. Inside the nave, there is a plain octagonal font from the 15th century, some 16th century pews, and carved stone corbels, one of which depicts a bagpiper.
