Description
Winterfold House is a house built in the early 19th century, with some alterations from the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. It is constructed of brick and has a hipped slate roof. The building has three storeys and features a symmetrical main part with a slightly advanced central bay. The façade includes two plus one plus two plus one windows, with the right side being a mid-19th century addition. There is a modillioned painted brick cornice above a plain parapet and a band at the ground floor level.
The central first-floor window is set under a semi-circular headed recess, with glazing bar sashes beneath rubbed heads. The second floor has 6-pane sashes, while the ground floor features a central entrance with a portico supported by two Ionic columns, which holds a canopy with a moulded cornice and a two-leaf 6-panelled door. The left-hand return front has a central pediment. Inside, there is a staircase located in a circular stair hall at the rear, which is adorned with a cast iron balustrade.
